HOUSING CONFERENCE

HAKC REGIONAL HOUSING CONFERENCE
SAVE THE DATE-February 5th & 6th 2008

The Housing Authority of Kansas City, MO will be hosting a Regional Housing Conference in February 2008. This event will bring together a myriad of stakeholders from landlords, Section 8 participants, Social Service Organizations, Public Housing Authorities (PHA’s), the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Elected Officials, and the Assisted Housing Organizations. A detailed workshop itinerary will be distributed to the public in January 2008.

HAKC’s Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program provides rental assistance and home ownership options to low to moderate income individuals and families within the Greater Kansas City and surrounding metropolitan areas. HAKC is the largest PHA in the region and the program also provides assistance to senior citizens and disabled persons on fixed incomes, displaced families, and homeless individuals with disabilities. The goal of the HCV Program is to enable eligible households to rent or purchase decent, safe and sanitary housing in the private housing market.

The Section 8 Homeownership Program is designed to aid residents of Section 8 in the purchase of a home. This program is dedicated to helping individuals with credit rebuilding, financial education, and helps them establish financial independence. This Homeownership program not only provides voucher assistance for much of the mortgage, but it also provides the client advocacy, case management, and a group of partnering agencies that will be instrumental in aiding the client to purchase a home.
