Senior Citizen Property Tax Credit

Certain senior citizens and 100% disabled individuals may be eligible for a Missouri income tax credit for a portion of their real estate taxes or rent paid for the year.

The credit is for a maximum of $750 for renters and $1,100 for owners who own and occupy their home. This credit can only be claimed on the home they occupy during the period being claimed. The actual credit is based on the amount of real estate taxes or rent paid and the total household income.

You must meet the age or disability requirement and the income requirement:

• You or your spouse must be 65 or older, or

• Age 60 or older and receiving surviving spouse Social Security Benefits, or

• 100% disabled
