Free air conditioners available

The Bishop Sullivan Center’s Project ElderCool cool is providing free window air conditioners to indigent elderly persons.

To qualify for a free air conditioner you must:

* Be age 65 or older and have no air conditioner in your home

* Meet poverty guidelines

* Be on disability because of respiratory problems

Bishop Sullivan Center has installed 160 air conditioners so far this summer. The public is urged to call the center at 816-231-0984 if they or someone they know needs help. They also can call that number or visit www.bishopsullivan.org to make a donation to Project ElderCool. A $90 donation purchases a new window unit, and a $50 donation can be made towards a recipient’s utility account to help cover the cost of running the unit.
