Get Your Green On," Sat., Apr. 10, from 8 a.m. to 3

The City of Kansas City, Mo., in conjunction with the City Market, local businesses and organizations is sponsoring "Get Your Green On," Sat., Apr. 10, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the City Market. This event is open to the public and provides information that encourages individuals to live greener and more environmentally responsible lifestyles. The event includes an electronics recycling collection, to help residents dispose electronics in a responsible manner.

The electronics recycling collection will be conducted by Surplus Exchange from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the corner of 3rd and Walnut Streets. Many small electronic items, such as cell phones, pagers, computer CPUs, and laptops will be accepted free of charge. For a fee, electronics such as console televisions, portable televisions, microwave ovens, computer monitors and printers will be accepted.

A complete list of accepted items, fees and information about the electronics collection is available at www.thecitymarket.org/pdfs/GGOFlyer.pdf.

By supporting such events, the City helps residents move from being concerned about the environment, to taking action in their homes and the community, said Michael Shaw, manager of the City s Solid Waste Division. The difference one well informed resident can make is amazing.

In addition to the City of Kansas City, Mo., Get Your Green On includes involvement from Habitat ReStore, The Energy Savings Store, Greenability Magazine, the KC Center for Urban Agriculture, Deffenbaugh Industries, Downtown Kansas City Council, RecycleSpot.org, and the City Market.
